Save for Happy
I was digging through old emails this week that I saved in a folder called, “Save for Happy.” We will be making over our website soon and I was hoping to find some testimonials that I have saved from past clients.
I stumbled upon this old email from my Dad several years back and it brought a smile to my face. Inherently, as Angela Todd Designs has grown to a boutique firm, my personal values passed down from my family have stayed with me. We are friendly, approachable and gracious. We believe in quality, but we aren’t stuffy. We make everyone feel at home in the interior design process. And most importantly, we have enthusiasm for our clients lives, desires, and their projects.
This email is one of many letters, emails and notes from my father over the years that have touched me. Most of us can relate to someone in our lives being our greatest mentor and cheerleader.
I’m so pleased that you’re doing well in a business you love. It’s nice to know that you look forward to Monday morning the way most people look forward to Friday afternoon. Loving your work is something most people never get to do. The people who love their work are inherently wealthy because they will never work another day in their life. Also because I’ve always been a bit of an entrepreneur myself, your success allows me to puff up my chest a bit, and say, “That’s my kid”.
Angi, you didn’t get your decorating sense from your father. I’d sit on orange crates and think nothing of it. One thing you did get from your father was the ability to make everyone from the multi-millionaire to the struggling single mom comfortable, and both know you genuinely care about them. Be careful you don’t let getting paid by the hour to give your opinion and have people do exactly what you recommend go to your head. Please don’t ever lose your ability to make everyone, no matter their economic or educational level, feel important.
