Introducing our studio manager
Sara Landis started working with us two months ago. She has been catching on quick, no easy task because – my do things move fast around here! Here is a little about Sara’s story.
Welcome to the Angela Todd Designs team Sara!
I am thrilled to be a member of the Angela Todd Designs team! After working for twelve years in print media managing multifaceted print, digital and event campaigns for the Willamette Week and Portland Monthly Magazine, I felt it was time to take a leap forward and follow my passion in interior design. I adore color, bold patterns and eclectic furniture, and I love to mix and match styles to create inspirational spaces in homes. As far back as I can remember, I’ve been decorating, rearranging and repurposing spaces for my friends and family. After completely renovating my home both inside and out, my desire to work in the design field only intensified.
I was enrolled in school working on my second degree in interior design, but I decided to put my goals on hold when my son, Breckon, was born. As he approached school age, I decided there was no better time to go back to pursuing my dreams. After setting up informational interviews in the interior design scene in Portland, a friend and businesswoman introduced me to Angela. By coincidence, another friend also expressed interest in introducing Angela and I. My expectation was we would be meeting to discuss our similar stories of breaking into the field as a second career. To my surprise, she informed me that she was searching for someone to manage her studio. After three meetings, she offered me a position at her firm, and since I love a challenge, I gladly accepted her offer.
I jumped into this whirlwind career with both feet. It is always changing: no day is the same and there are always new and interesting challenges. As I discovered, my professional background prepared me well for my new and exciting journey. I work with all kinds of wonderful and interesting people, and I am always engaged in meeting deadlines and figuring out intricate design details. While this is a detailed profession, I also understand and focus on the big picture, which is always our clients’ happiness. Doing tasks such as managing logistics and ordering materials while staying in constant contact with clients, contractors and manufacturers are not the things one reads about in magazines, but they are truly an integral part of any successful design team.
As a client of Angela Todd Designs, you may meet me at your initial consultation or talk to me when you call the studio with a question. I may help with your floor plans and design selections, as well as be the one working behind the scenes to schedule the big reveal at your home. I’m delighted to be the studio manager at Angela Todd Designs, and I look forward to helping you realize your individual oasis.
