Movin on Up with “Around the House” on KXL
I confess. I have been keeping a secret from you.
In early December, I was asked by Portland, Oregon headquartered KXL and Handyman Bob to become a regular participant on Around the House, 750AM’s live handyman show airing each Saturday. In 2008, I had the pleasure of being a guest on the show a half dozen times – and we decided to make my design input a regular staple on the show.
We hope you make tuning in each Saturday from 12:00pm to 2:00pm part of your regular Saturday routine. Around the House with Handyman Bob is aired throughout the state of Oregon on the Radio Northwest Network from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. It is a dream to work with Handyman Bob – my favorite handyman and a terrific man that lights up a room when he enters.
This Saturday, January 24th we will be celebrating Handyman Bob’s one year on-air anniversary on location at the Memorial Coliseum at the Portland Build, Remodel and Landscape Show. Please stop by our booth and share a toast of sparkling cider with us. (Bob is also celebrating his wedding anniversary with his lovely wife Lynn.)
We named the interior design segment, The Design Angle. It is a play on words that works well with Angela Todd Designs. Hosting a radio segment is new territory for me, so I was surprised when I was asked to think of an appropriate opening song for my segment. We decided on the peppy, feel good song, “Movin’ on Up” which you no doubt will recognize from ‘The Jefferson’s’ television show from the 1970’s. This song always makes me smile and lifts my spirits. I hope it does the same for you when you hear it on-air each week.
The folks at KXL have put together a customized version for the segment. You can hear the customized show opening unveiled this Saturday, January 24, 2009. For now, here is the song posted on YouTube. I selected this song for its feel good message. Can’t we all relate to working hard towards our goals? You did it! Now you can afford a nice place, a great sofa, and an outstanding kitchen.
We have been putting together topics for the next 25 weeks. The Design Angle segment focuses on home remodeling, building and decor projects. Just like this blog, we will offer do it yourself ideas on air for homeowners, and we will also focus on local Portland, OR home and remodeling tours and events that will inspire you at home. As a matter of fact, to mirror this blog and the segment, the name of this blog has officially changed from Interior Design Dilemma to The Design Angle.
Tune in with Bob Strong and I (his interior design sidekick) on Saturdays in 2009, when you are in the car running errands, working around the house, or out in the yard. We promise to add to your favorite day of the week!
