We have been working the last couple months with Giulietti and Schouten Architecture and Olson & Jones Construction on a house remodel in Oregon City that involves changing the roofline, great room, master bathroom, kitchen and upstairs bonus room stairway.
Our client’s house has a happy energy. Their little girls play in the large yard, flowers and shrubs are blooming this time of the year, their yellow lab Daisy greets you when you visit. I have seen deer on the property more than once. From time to time we have seen their cat Jake in the house. He generally comes out to greet us and then finds a cozy place to nap. I am guessing he has a lot of fun outdoors in their yard chasing and catching fury trespassers.
Our construction started this week. The first phase being a small change to the bonus room staircase. Our clients, a family of four, will be living in that area while the rest of the house takes on a transformation this summer. Yesterday the team and subcontractors at Olson & Jones Construction removed a wall and reframed an area at the staircase. Yesterday afternoon the family couldn’t find Jake. After looking they thought, “Oh no. He can’t be in the wall can he?” Sure enough as they approached the newly sheetrocked wall, they heard a muffled “Meow” when they called Jake’s name.
Our client cut a hole in the “just installed sheetrock” to free him, but Jake was too chubby to come out. Then they cut second hole – and out came Jake.
Here is Jake relaxing afterwards in the master bedroom. I wonder what he is thinking?
Remodeling is full of fun stories! The little girls of the home couldn’t wait to tell their classmates today at school. We are glad this mischievous kitty is safe and sound. Now on to patching the wall.
