Did you know the affordablity index is at an all time high? (I recently received a monthly market housing update from one my favorite realtors in Portland, Matt Mahaffy with the Mahaffy Group at Realty Trust. Thanks Matt.)
Home building is back in vogue and gaining momentum once again. We are noticing this trend at Angela Todd Designs as well and through our affiliation at the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland. Architects are putting together cutting edge plans, builders are selecting lots and building in more sustainable ways, homeowners are buying quality, and interior designers are working a fair share of their time again in new construction.
If you are building a new home, consider meeting us for an interior design consultation. An interior designer will inspire and awaken new ideas for your floors, countertops, wall colors, finishes, lighting and cabinetry. Not to mention the designer will help you with placing existing and new furnishings and get those windows covered, not only for function, but style. Most homeowners left to their own devices will select common surfaces, even those that will be dated in just a year or two. A good interior designer knows the past, immediate past and current styles, and knows how to project what styles will have staying power.
Even a client with a natural eye for design, is unable to truly grasp scale, color and texture and how surfaces will relate to one another from room to room without renovation and remodeling experience,. It takes old-fashioned experience to develop such an eye – and an investment with an interior designer will ensure your vision develops into reality.
The photo gallery includes a home built by Arbor Homes. Our clients were empty nesters who selected the builder for their exceptional floor plans, quality and attention to detail. They hired Angela Todd Designs while building the home because they also wanted their own personality to come through in their new home.
A kind note from this client, “We get so many compliments about our home from homeowners and tradespeople in the sub-development. We love the builder, but didn’t want a cookie-cutter look. Even the crew commented about how much they liked the fresh surfaces we selected and ways in which Angela recommended installation. She listened to what we wanted and she immensely helped in the process. Arbor has a great team in place, but the added service Angela offered really gave us a showpiece.”
